Activity 1: Research Assignment: Software and Hardware in Multimedia

Software and Hardware in Computer Animation

Computer Animation simplifies the animation toolkit, all you need is a computer with enough system requirements to run the 2D or 3D software application of choice and people trained to use that software.

Here are some of the software and hardware in Computer Animation:

Software

Adobe Character Animator CC

Adobe Character Animator CC is a character animation application that allows you to bring expressive characters to life using your own artwork. Animate your facial expressions and movements while recording your voice using your webcam and microphone with accurate lip synch and eye tracking, all in real time allowing you to easily bring 2D characters to life with your own performance.

Animate CC

It offers the ability to do hand drawn, frame-by-frame animation, limited animation where individual pieces of the character can be swapped, and puppet animation where a character rig can be posed without redrawing it. The features of this software are  adobe animate camera, export format, vector brushes, audio synching, and font.

Cartoon Animator 4

Software in computer animation that can turn images to animated characters, control characters with your expression, generate lip-sync animation from audio, accomplish 3D parallax scenes, produce 2D visual effects , access content resources, and wield a comprehensive photoshop pipeline to rapidly customize characters and create content.

Hardware

Graphics (GPU)

The graphics processing unit (GPU) has become one of the most important types of computing technology, both for personal and business computing. Designed for parallel processing, the GPU is used in a wide range of applications, including graphics and video rendering. A good GPU will enable your machine to perform modeling, mapping, and animation work in 3D spaces smoothly and with more stability.

Processor (CPU)

Processors are also called Central Processing Units (CPU) is a circuit board inside a computer that executes instructions on behalf of programs. Processors are the brain behind a computer. They control the logic that performs calculations and run programs on your computer.

Memory (RAM)

Random Access Memory (RAM) is volatile, that means data is retained in RAM as long as the computer is on, but it is lost when the computer is turned off. When the computer is rebooted, the OS and other files are reloaded into RAM, usually from an HDD or SSD. RAM can be compared to a person's short-term memory, and a hard disk drive to a person's long-term memory. Short-term memory is focused on immediate work, but it can only keep a limited number of facts in view at any one time.
